T O P I C R E V I E WdavidcwagnerThis is an absolutely astounding flying jet model. history in miniatureWOW I can't use the words here to describe that video!!Apollo Redux*Jaw-drop...eyes bugging out...* ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! WOW!!!David BryantAt Duxford IWM they have an annual flying model show: a couple of years ago they had an Me 262 and a B52: both huge, both (like this!) beyond words! GoesTo11Those models are amazing...But I could could never trust myself to fly one! Crunch it, and there went $10,000+ GilbertIf I owned that model I'd be holding my breath the entire time it was off the ground. Unbelievable!astroborgAusgezeichnet!randyAbsolutely INCREDIBLE!WAWalshNot quite as impressive perhaps, but a B-29 with Bell X-1.Peter KempDavid Bryant mentions the giant B-52 model. I believe that this had something like a 21 foot wingspan and was built by Gordon Nichols who had previously built a number of large scale models. It was powered by eight Wren model jet engines.Unfortunately it crashed while being flown at the BMFA National Air Show in August 2004.This model was so large that the incident was formally investigated by the UK's Civil Aviation Authority.I had heard that this was the second B-52 he had build that had subsequently crashed and the authorities had refused him permission to build a third.I think you can still view videos of the test flights and the crash on YouTube.ScottThat video is incredible. I'd not seen it before and it's my new favorite. Here are the B-52 flight and crash videos Peter mentions: RC Plane B52 Bomber, UK RC B52 bomber crash As well as a smaller RC jet doing stunts:RC Jet - Full 3D LAVI Fighter, Turbine Powered. Crazy! and another video... RC Jet takeoff and a faceplant
